Small businesses, especially those owned by people of color, often aren’t afforded the same opportunities as their white counterparts and face a number of challenges getting their businesses up and running. It is the government’s responsibility to correct the policies, processes and programs that contribute to racial disparities that have led white businesses to achieve greater economic success and development than Black and brown ones. By expanding educational and financial opportunities for small business owners and promoting these opportunities among entrepreneurs of color in particular, governments can grow a more inclusive ecosystem of entrepreneurs that can stimulate economic activity while contributing to a more equitable society.
