Digital Equity Act Grants & Policies That Drive Inclusion

The Digital Equity Act (DEA) offers states and other organizations $2.75 billion to fund improved access to online resources for underserved communities. The DEA is just a fraction of the total funds going toward efforts like broadband expansion, which is a key aspect of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The funds offer an opportunity to provide support for communities and populations, including people with disabilities, that currently have inadequate digital access. While states should be crafting long-term plans to address digital equity, there are immediate steps they can take to make their online assets more accessible, including offering accommodations like captions and audio description on live and recorded online content.
